Workshops for all Ages
Hands-on creative practice making abstract compositions using 3D materials for children and adults
Hacker Creations workshops give kids a chance to make a 3D abstract work of art that combines a collage made from recycled paper with computer parts! The project relies on good observation skills, imagination and experimentation. Children are shown ways to use layering to make an exciting, eye-popping creation! The disassembled technology provided, offers a wild variety of materials and fascinating shapes!
Kids become familiar with the workings of computers by seeing what is inside. All the parts have been chosen with children in mind and are made from plastic, rubber and metal.
Safety: In youth classes, no parts are cut. The metal and plastic have been sorted and judged to be safe. I bring no capacitors, diodes, transistors, resisters, or anything that contains harmful chemicals. But one should always wash their hands after handling e-waste!
This is a whole new way to look at technology in a world overrun with electronics waste.
Join assemblage artist, Melissa Glick in making bold, colorful collage using disassembled computer components and recycled paper.
Learn techniques for attaching parts over a layer of collage, to create abstract compositions that explore shape, perspective, pattern & positive/negative space.
Discover the beauty of deconstructed technology that recalls the sculpture of Modernist movements, Geometrical Abstraction, Bauhaus, DeStijl, Cubism and the work of artists such as Louis Nevelson, Malevich & Calder.
Advanced classes include using shears to cut parts and a variety of methods for attaching computer parts to wood including, drilling holes and using wire, screws, glue gun. silicon and epoxy.
