blog 6 - Inman Square Incubator POP UP
I am so excited to announce that from May 7th to June 5th I will be having a POP UP SHOP in Inman Square, Cambridge MA! Through a wonderful new initiative between Gather Here, the East Cambridge Business Association, Commonwealth Alternative Care and a City of Cambridge's Small Business Challenge as the stories in Cambridge Day and Cambridge Chronicle attest to. A newly renovated store front at 1385 Cambridge Street is being made available for local artists/makers on a monthly basis. For the month of May, I will be presenting my work along with my Artisan’s Asylum, buddy, Ilana Krepchin who makes beautiful jewelry and kinetic sculpture. Together we will fill the space with abstract constructions of all kinds!
I am so thankful when an opportunity like this “pops up”. It has made me super motivated, I've been working in super over drive. They * say, the best way to quality work is through quantity- and I have 40 new works!
Since moving out of my studio at Artisan’s Asylum in Oct 2020, I’ve been working in my dining room and basement. (Thank you Vivian for letting me use your storage space!) Finding wood shop tools has been difficult. I finally checked out the Somerville High School maker space, Fabville which is GREAT! Evening community hours are being run by Alex Swaisgood with a grant overseen by the Asylum. Alex has been a Godsend! He helped me laser cut my Alan Turing heads, thus completing a job I thought up over 4 years ago!
